Level up your ability to respond to threats

Violence is an urgent problem throughout Louisiana, and no one is immune to it’s affects.  Perpetrators are engaging in more carjacking and robbery attempts and becoming more brazen in these acts. Women and members of the LGBTQIA+ community are particularly vulnerable.  Data from the CDC’s National Intimate Partner and Sexual Violence Survey indicates about 1 in 4 women and nearly 1 in 10 men have experienced contact sexual violence, physical violence, or stalking by an intimate partner during their lifetime.  Mass shootings are occurring at an alarming pace.  Knowing how to respond to personal violence, and having the tools to do so, can help to increase your safety and survival.

"The second amendment wears lipstick"

Preliminary data from Harvard’s School of Public Health indicates that women accounted for about half of all gun purchase background checks between 2019 and 2021, and that women comprise the majority of new gun ownership.  In an effort to empower women victims of intimate partner violence we have started an initiative we call SHE CALLS THE SHOTS.  We proudly offer significantly reduced Concealed Carry Class rates to women victims of intimate partner violence with active Louisiana Temporary Concealed Handgun Permits issued in accordance with Act 465, Louisiana R.S. 40:1379.3.2 (“Brandi Trahan Act”) through our SHE CALLS THE SHOTS Initiative.  If you have this permit and would like more information, just use our contact us form or give us a call.

SHE CALLS THE SHOTS

We began our SHE CALLS THE SHOTS program initiative in response to the worldwide epidemic of violence against women. Our goal is to help survivors of intimate partner violence increase their safety and reduce harm to themselves and the children in their care. We believe that as more women become trained and armed, the ripple effect will be a decrease in the incidence of violence against women. Our goal is to empower women with new skills that may lessen the impact of unhealthy relationships. We offer significantly reduced rates for our Concealed Carry Class for women who hold a current Louisiana Temporary Concealed Handgun Permit issued under Act 465, Louisiana R. S. 40:1379.3.2 ("Brandy Trahan Act"). Our Concealed Carry Class training is holistic and Trauma-Informed. Excerpts of our past can manifest within our present-day interactions. Awareness of these artifacts from our past and methods to control and capitalize on these manifestations is discussed in our training by our Community Advocate, a licensed mental health professional. We also offer our Community Education Gun Safety Training free of charge (twice per quarter) onsite to non-profit organizations providing services to women and children in New Orleans or Baton Rouge. We are working on increasing our services to include additional resources for those communities most impacted.
